Event settings explained
Visibility, one response per device, event codes, response limits and more.
Who can find this event
- Public: the page can appear in search engines.
- Unlisted: only people with the link or QR code can open it. The link ends in a random part (like
/e/team-sync-k7m2x9pq4r), so nobody can find the event by guessing an address from its title. It's added when you create the event, switch it to unlisted, or change its link name.
Accept responses before the start time
Open the page as soon as you publish, e.g. to collect questions before a panel. Responses then count from when you publish, so the end time can be at most 30 days after that. For an event months away, publish closer to the date or leave this off.
One response per device
Recommended for polls. Turn it off for Q&A, where people may ask several questions. With sessions, it's one response per device per session. Quizzes always allow one player per phone.
Live reactions
Attendees can tap 👏 ❤️ 😂 🤔 🔥 during your session; they float up in presenter mode. Reactions are free. See Live reactions.
Audience questions & upvotes (questions mode)
Show questions on the event page so attendees can upvote them. Show all questions, or only the ones you star.
Let attendees add a name (questions mode)
Off by default. When it's on, the form has an optional Your name box. Attendees can type any name they like (it doesn't have to be their real one) or leave it empty to stay anonymous.
The name shows with the question on your event page and in exports. When audience questions are on, it's also shown to other attendees and in presenter mode; when they're off, attendees are told the name is only for you, so presenter mode leaves it off the big screen. Names that pose as you or your team ("Host", "Moderator", "Admin"…) aren't accepted. If a name is rude or pretends to be someone, choose Remove name on that response: the question stays, without the name. Turning the setting off hides all names again.
Show live results after voting (poll mode)
Attendees see the current results after they submit.
Response limit
Stop at fewer responses than your plan allows, for example 250 of 500. You can raise it again later, up to what you paid for.
Event code
A 6–8 character code shown at the venue (choose Generate a code for a random one). Only people who are in the room can respond, vote, react or play, which helps against online spam. The QR code and poster include it automatically, so people who scan never type it.
Codes are hard to guess: wrong tries are limited per network (the right code never is, so a whole room can type it on one Wi-Fi), and if an event gets too many wrong codes within an hour (from anywhere), typed codes need a quick bot check for the rest of the hour and we email you (at most once a day). Each bot check covers one code, so it can't be reused to try others. Attendees can still get in by typing the right code; people who already entered it or scan the QR code aren't affected. Codes of 4–5 characters saved before this rule keep working until you change them, but they are much easier to guess, so your event page asks you to change them.
Thank-you message
